Cookshire-Eaton

Cookshire-Eaton has more than 298 km2 crisscrossed with scenic routes, several village nuclei, including Eaton Corner, the oldest village in the Eastern Townships. The municipality owes its surname to Captain John Cook, the first colonist to acquire land there in 1795. Architectural gems still testify to the significant economic development that this territory has known.

Stage of the Chemin des Cantons, several stops are necessary with the Parc des Braves and its interpretation panels, the village-museum of Eaton-Corner, the John-Cook and McDermott covered bridges and architectural gems such as the St. Peters Anglican Church and the former home of MP John Henry Pope, pioneer and founder of the Canadian Pacific Railway, converted into a medical clinic in Cookshire. Located at the western end, the Johnville Ecoforestry Park offers hiking trails on stilts in an ecosystem of remarkable ecological diversity.
